Dr. Solan is passionate about caring for his patients with advanced Chiropractic techniques because he is a Chiropractic patient himself. During his time at Loyola University, while pursuing a career in traditional Allopathic Medicine he began to suffer from excruciating Sciatica. Dr. Solan explored all the traditional medical treatments for his problem including pain and anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy and was ultimately scheduled for a lumbar spinal fusion. At this point, fate intervened and a family friend recommended he see a Chiropractor named Dr. Fred Mazanec. Dr. Mazanec evaluated and treated him and within a month the spinal surgery was cancelled. Within another two weeks of Chiropractic care Joe was pain free. At the culmination of his treatment plan Dr. Mazanec asked Joe, as a favor to him, to take a tour of National College of Chiropractic which he did. Once Joe visited the college, now National University of Health Sciences and witnessed how rigorous the Doctoral Program was he changed his career path, applied and was admitted.
After graduation Dr. Solan relocated to Effingham, IL taking a position as an Associate Chiropractor working with Dr. Laura Ames. After completing a two year contract with Dr. Ames he went on to work in a multidisciplinary setting with Dr. Roydee Achor, D.O. Upon the passing of Dr. Achor, he founded Solan Chiropractic in Effingham and purchased The Vandalia Back Pain Center from his career long friends and colleges Dr. Rodney and Dr. Kelly Stanfield.
Dr. Solan has busy practices in both location and it is estimated that he has had over 100,000 patient visits since beginning practice in 1999 and looks forward to serving his patients for many more years. Dr. Solan believes in lifelong learning and the continued advancement and integration of Chiropractic into mainstream healthcare, believing that Chiropractic is still currently underutilized and many patients whose lives could be improved dramatically with the right treatment are still not being served.
